AUTO INSURANCE INFORMATION

Although the types and amounts of auto insurance coverage you purchase is an individual decision, I hope this information will help you understand what you are purchasing.

I personally handle personal injury claims and wrongful death claims on a contingency fee basis (no recovery no fee).  I advance the costs of pursuing the claim.  If there is no recovery, there is no fee or charge for the costs advanced.

Only two (2) types of coverage are required by Florida law.

    l.      Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or No-Fault Benefits.

        (a)     Pays you regardless of fault in a motor vehicle accident.

        (b)    80% of medical bills (reasonable and necessary).

        (c)    60% of lost wages or loss of wage earning capacity.

        (d)    Up to $10,000 to pay medical bills and lost wages.

        (e)    Up to $5,000 per individual for funeral expenses.

        (f)    May have a deductible.

        (g)    $5,000 death benefits.

    2.    $10,000 for Property Damage Liability Coverage

        (a)     At fault vehicle's insurance used to pay property damage to other vehicle.

        (b)    No deductible.

        (c)    May purchase more than $10,000 coverage.

Coverages not required by law are:

    1.    Medical Payments (Med Pay) Coverage

        (a)    Pays regardless of fault in a motor vehicle accident.

        (b)    Pays 100% of medical bills up to amount of coverage purchased.

        (c)    Sometimes used to pay 20% of medical bills not paid by PIP, which pays 80% of medical bills.

        (d)    Can be used to pay all medical bills in order that PIP benefits be used solely for lost wages.

    2.    Bodily Injury Liability Coverage

        (a)    At fault driver's and vehicle's insurance used to pay for permanent injuries or death to others.

        (b)    Protects your personal assets when you are at fault in a motor vehicle accident.

        (c)    Amount of coverage purchased is an individual decision.

    3.    Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM) Coverage

        (a)    Covers you and family members when at fault driver/owner does not have any or enough bodily injury liability coverage to pay for permanent injuries or death.

        (b)    Pays you for medical expenses (past & future), lost wages (past & future), pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, and spouse's loss of society and services.

        (c)    Best insurance you can buy to protect you and family members from permanent injuries since it is unknown if person at fault has any or enough bodily injury liability coverage to compensate you.

        (d)    Amount of coverage purchased is an individual decision.

    4.    Collision

        (a)    Pays you for property damage to your vehicle regardless of fault.

        (b)    Usually has deductible.

    5.    Comprehensive
